Trip to Los Angeles California

Just recently Roger and I returned from Los Angeles, California, where we spent 5 wonderful days at the Fundamental Baptist Tabernacle. About 140 people, including ages 8 to 94, came to "Camp in the City" for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday of Labor Day Weekend. It was an amazing opportunity to share God's Word with folks from all ages and at least 20 ethnic groups--China, Korea, Viet Nam, Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, Guatemala, SA, Columbia SA, Mexico, Cuba, and many others. The church served lunch and dinner daily to the whole group, and it was delicious--wonderfully prepared and brought in individual serving plates at our tables. The food was provided without charge for all the visitors. While we ate, we enjoyed films on John Newton, David Brainerd, the revivals occurring in China, and other inspiring subjects. We ate birthday cake and celebrated many birthdays, even watching Popeye films from the 30's. It was church that described itself as being "not a friendly church where people just greet you at the door, but a church where you can make friends for a lifetime." They beautifully illustrated Christian hospitality, and about 30 college students from nearby secular universities enjoyed the happy atmosphere and loving response of the church members. I actually spoke 5 times, and the Lord opened many hearts. Roger preached on Sunday on prayer principles in the life of George Muller, who founded orphanages in England and cared lovingly for thousands of orphans without ever asking for a dime of money. God provided all their needs through prayer. Sunday night the pastor preached on "Four Lessons I Learned from John R. Rice. "'He showed a video in which he interviewed Daddy about the inspiration of Scripture. It was just made just 8 weeks before our sweet Daddy took off for Heaven, so watching this video was very dear to us. The folks were excited about the Joyful Christian Ministry books, and just gobbled them up. It was thrilling to know that our ministry would continue in their lives during the months ahead through the CDs and books they purchased.
